Indications/Uses
TB.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 100 mg tid to qid daily. Childn 10-20 mg/kg daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Drug-induced liver disease.
Special Precautions
Liver or kidney impairment, patients taking other hepatotoxic agents. Convulsive disorders, DM, chronic alcoholism, pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral neuropathy, constipation, difficulty in starting micturition, nausea, headache, insomnia, excessive dreams, nervousness, hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced tissue conc w/ AAS. Increased risk of liver damage w/ rifampicin. Increased risk of toxicity w/ disulfiram. Reduced effects w/ pyridoxine. Enhances effects of phenytoin. Inhibits metabolism of primidone. Reduces alcohol tolerance.
